A Reflection on Gratitude and Giving by Mickey Dorsey
During the "Season of Giving Thanks" leaders in our Stewardship Ministry will be blogging each Wednesday about why they, with grateful hearts, contribute their time, talent and treasure to further God's work in and through St. Julian's. Below is this weeks offering by Mickey Dorsey:
STEWARDSHIP, ST. JULIAN'S, & ME:
"Uh-oh". That almost says it all for me.
Ask yourself. How many times in a service do we hear "uh-oh" or the sound of a toy hitting the floor, or the simple laugh of one of St. Julian's numerous children? To me it's a joy. It's a reminder that some of my grandsons may be attending the service or they may be somewhere else that Sunday morning. These gifts from God sitting at the feet of their parents just as children where brought to the feet of our Savior.
We watch the slightly older youth who so freely give of their time and talents with their gifts of sharing. Their commitment to their church, their community, and their friends given with such enthusiasm.
It is truly a joy. To give of ourselves freely to the glory of God. Unfortunately it does take a financial commitment to support a church. This will take care of itself. Simply give what you can when you can. Look beyond your pledge. Look at the talents you have to gift to St. Julian's. Who was the true carpenter? Joseph the Father or Jesus the Son? I'm sure Joseph had questions, but his trust in the Lord gave us eternal life.
So simply go forth and spread the Word, the Joy, the Love, the Friendship of Christ.
