Fall Christian Education (Sunday school) for All Ages Begins Sunday, Sept 18 between Services (10:20 AM):
Please mark your calendars for the beginning of our Fall Christian Education Programs for all ages on Sunday, Sept 18 between services at 10:20 AM. I see Worship and Formation as two sides of the same coin which, along with service and prayer, make up the heart of the Christian life. As we pray and learn together, we are shaped more and more into the love-spreaders and life-givers that God has created us to be and become. To that end, I hope you will prayerfully consider making both worship and Christian Ed a priority on your family's weekly calendar. We have something to learn from you, so your participation matters!
Below is a list of our various offerings for all ages. Please read on and, again, join us on Sept 18 and each Sunday this fall:
Adults, "Theology of Food": How does the food we eat and the manner in which we eat it, connect with our faith in God? What does the Bible say about food? How do we eat faithfully, in a world troubled by hunger and drought? Does our faith call us to particular table practices today? Led by our Theologian-in-Residence, Dr. Tony Baker, we will gather sources from scripture, Christian tradition, and those thinking now about our relationship with food and the land and people that produce it to help us contemplate the theological and ethical dimensions of the food that we gather around and that fuels our lives. Class meets each week in the Worship Space. We will also offer this class each week online at the same Zoom link we use for 9 AM worship (click here).
Pre-K-Kinder, "Godly Play": A child centered exploration of Holy Scripture and the rituals/themes of the church through story, wonder and self-guided play with hand crafted manipulatives (toys!). Class meets each week in the Gold Room.
1st-3rd Grades, "The Jesus Storybook Bible": A curriculum which explores stories from the Old and New Testaments, using storytelling, video, song and directed activities/crafts. Class meets in the Red Room.
4th-6th Grades, "The Deep Blue curriculum": An awe-inspiring and comprehensive Bible Study that helps children discover what it means to be a disciple of Jesus Christ today. Class meets in the Green Room.
7th-12th Grades, "Companions for the Journey": A bible study with discussion and activities generated from topics discerned directly by our teens from real life challenges and opportunities. Led most weeks by our Vicar, Miles. Class meets each week in the Blue Room.
Children's Chapel (3-years-old-3rd grade): A child-centered time of worship with prayers, songs, and activities. Meets during the first part of our regular Sunday services at 9 and 11:15 AM. Children return in time to receive communion with their families.
Childcare/Nursery (Infants-3-year-olds): Our nursery is available each Sunday morning during worship and Christian Education. The nursery is located near the front entrance to the church.
If we can answer any question about our Sunday morning Fall Christian Education Program or anything in our shared life at St. Julian's, as always, feel free to reach out to me or Jonathan with the contact info below. I hope this reaches you and yours well.
