Join us for a Holy Advent at St. Julian's:
Join us Sunday, Dec 2 as we begin the Season of Advent, a season characterized by preparation and joyful expectation for the One who comes to us at Christmas. We will have our regular two morning services for the first Sunday of Advent this Sunday at 9 and 11:30 AM. Additionally, we are offering a special Advent Taize Service in the evening (6:30 PM) to welcome the season with song, contemplation, reflection and candle light (all ages welcome and childcare will be available).
In addition to the 3 services Sunday the 2nd, we will have available at church this week daily devotional booklets for each day in the season and Advent Wreaths and candles to take home with prayers and scripture readings for lighting it each week at home (a $5 suggested donation). We are also providing a resource called "Advent FAITH Steps in Action", which is a program that blends physical exercise with spiritual reflection based on the distance traveled by Mary and Jospeh from Nazareth to Bethlehem. For a copy of the program, click here.
In addition to all above, we will be providing other events and special services to celebrate the season, including a Christmas Fellowship called "Stained GLAS" at the church for all ages on Saturday, Dec 15, 2-5 PM; Advent Lessons and Carols at our two morning services on the 4th Sunday of Advent, Dec 23; and Christmas Caroling to our Neighbors also on Sunday, Dec 23, in the evening, 5-6:30 PM.
And, of course, our Advent journey will lead us to our Christmas celebrations, which will be: Christmas Eve, Monday, Dec 24 at 3:30 PM (with pageant) and 5:30 PM and Christmas Day at 10:30 AM.
We hope, beginning this Sunday, Dec 2, everyone in our family of faith will make weekly worship in this Holy Season a priority in your family's life. I have always found that the more intentionally I enter into the Season of Advent, the more wonderful are the joys and new life discovered in Christmas.
