St. Julian's will become the newest Parish in the Episcopal Church at Diocesan Council, Feb 27-28 in the Woodlands, TX. This is a momentous occasion and true celebration for both our family of faith and the larger Church. In fact, St. Julian's will become the first church plant to grow from a handful of people, dreaming with God of who we might become in 2008, to a self-sustaining Parish of the Episcopal Church in well over a generation. Together we have become a living example that is inspiring Episcopalians across the Church of what is possible in building a faithful, thriving community in the 21st century.

And, we invite everyone at St. Julian's to join us for the celebration at Council. Those present will be invited to process into council, ring the Great Commission bell, and receive the prayers, blessings and thanksgivings of over a thousand of our fellow Episcopalians who are present for Council. It will be a powerful moment for all those present, and I hope each of you will be among us to revel in it together. With God's help, the planting of St. Julian's has been all of our holy work, and I am so grateful for the sacrifices, generosity, prayers and service that each of you have shared to make this day possible. And, as I like to remind us, we are still only at the beginning!

We will not be providing transportation, but we encourage carpooling. You can come for the day on Saturday, as the celebration will follow lunch at 1 PM, or you can come Friday to participate in the opening Eucharist Friday evening at 7 PM and spend the night. To facilitate the stay on Friday night, we have reserved a block of rooms at a discounted rate at the Residence Inn by Marriott (The Woodlands, Lake Front Circle). The cost is $143.19 after taxes and fees. You can receive the same rate for Saturday night if you would like to make it a weekend stay. You must book by Feb 5 to get the reduced rate. Click here to make your reservation.

Please note, whether you come Friday or Saturday, you will need to be in the lobby outside the council meeting room by 12:45 PM at the Waterway Marriott Hotel and Convention Center (1601 Lake Robbins Dr, The Woodlands, TX 77380). The procession and celebration will begin at 1 PM directly following the break for lunch.

Please mark your calendar and make your hotel reservation. Though more info will be forthcoming, here is a link to Council information provided by the diocese. Please note, you do not need to actually register for council to attend the opening service at 7 PM on Friday or the celebration at 1 PM on Saturday, but, again, you will need to book your hotel room if staying overnight.

Lastly, please let us know if you are coming. We want to be sure everyone coming is accounted for, be able to communicate as it gets close, and be sure we have a good representation. You can do so by clicking here.

We hope all will join us for this momentous celebration in our life and the life of the diocese. If we can help facilitate your participation, please do be in touch. And, most of all, thank you, again, for the important and unique ways you have made this long-standing goal of our family of faith possible.

If we can answer any questions about Diocesan Council, please feel free to reach out to either of us. I hope this reaches you and yours well!

Click here to let us know if you are coming!

Peace and Warm Friendship,

Miles+
