Resuming In-Person Worship Outdoors Sunday, March 7, Lent 3 at 9 AM (Holy Communion):
Acknowledging that all plans are subject to change based on the COVID metrics we are following, the St. Julian's Forward (COVID) Task Force is targeting Sunday, March 7 at 9 AM to resume in-person worship (Holy Communion). One big change from our resumption in the fall is that the service will be outdoors in the parking lot directly in front of our entrance rather than in the worship space. Though we will begin by scheduling those who have identified as ready to return in our Readiness Survey to limit the size of the congregation, we hope that worshiping outside will allow us to do so more safely and be able, over time, to open the service to all those who desire to come more quickly than we can indoors.
We ask those who attend in-person worship to bring your own seating/camp chairs (we will have some ready just in case) and your own Prayer Book if you have one at home (we will have plenty available as well). Masks will be required for the entirety of the service, as will hand sanitizing as your arrive. Worshippers will be instructed on where to set up your pod in a socially distanced fashion. As we did in the fall, communion will be brought to you at your pod. We ask that all park behind the church for safety reasons. We will also continue to provide Children's Chapel on Sundays when children are scheduled to attend in-person. Lastly, we will require rsvp's and completion of our consent form (one per family). If you are interested in rejoining in person worship in the near term, you do need to complete our Readiness Survey (link here). Then you will receive an email with the date you are scheduled to worship and the consent form to complete. In the case of poor whether, we will cancel the service and invite everyone to worship at our fully on-line service, which will continue each Sunday at 11 AM beginning March 7. We will notify all those who have rsvp'd for the service via email/text if we must cancel.
So to clarify, we will have our one 10 AM online Morning Prayer Service one more time this Sunday, Feb 28 at 10 AM, and then move that service to 11 AM beginning the following Sunday, March 7. The Zoom link will remain the same moving forward (link here). Virtual Coffee Hour will continue to follow our online only service. We are going to try to stream the 9 AM outdoor service on our Facebook page each week for those who would like view the 9 AM Holy Communion Service. However, we are still determining if our internet will work effectively outside. One way or the other, please be assured that we are committed to continuing a robust online worship service each week at 11 AM for those who are not ready to return to larger outdoor gatherings and for our virtual members. This is a commitment that we are making indefinitely. To this end, I will continue to say that however you join us your presence is a blessing, we feel it, and are grateful for it. Whether present online or in-person, we remain together the St. Julian's family.
If you have any questions about our return to in-person worship on March 7 at 9 AM or otherwise, please, as always, do reach out out with the information below. I am so grateful for our shared friendship and ministry and hope this reaches you and yours safe, healthy and well.
