St. Julian's Annual Parish Meeting, Sunday, Jan 30 between Service at 10:10 AM (in-person and online):
Please plan to join us this Sunday between services for what I like to call our "Annual Family Meeting". We will be reviewing our core statements; presenting the 2022 budget; electing by acclamation 3 new people to our Bishop's Committee; sharing our goals and intentions for the year; and providing updates on the Deep Roots Capital Campaign which begins in earnest in about a months time.
Though the congregation does not "approve" a budget for the year (this is canonically a role of our Bishop's Committee), we will be sharing the budget at a fairly granular level. Further, attached here is the detailed budget for 2022 with 2021 as a reference. I invite you to take a look at the budget and ask questions in advance of the meeting, as our time together is limited. You can direct any budget related questions to our Treasurer, Justin Sutherland, or me, and we will respond as quickly as possible. I am happy to report that through the generosity of our community (giving was up nearly 20% year over year), we are presenting a balanced budget that has largely returned our ministries to their pre-pandemic levels, provides a cost of living increase to staff salaries, and provides funding to replenish our Building Fund that covers undesignated repairs to our existing facility. It is a budget that genuinely reflects the health and growth of our family of faith.
Further, as noted above, we will be electing by acclamation 3 new people to our Bishop's Committee (chief Lay Leadership team). They are Janet Walker, Paul Warfield, and Patty Kenyon. Click here for a picture and some information on each new member. I hope you will join me in thanking them for taking on this important role in our church. We will also be saying a hearty thanks to the 3 members of the Bishop's Committee who are completing their 3-year term. They are Nancy Dolan, Priscilla Cary, and Matthew Abrahamson. I ask that you also join me in giving them a well earned thanks for leading us through some of the most challenging and rewarding times we have experienced as a church.
For those joining us online, we will use our regular Sunday Morning Worship Link for the meeting (see below). So, join us for worship at 9 AM and remain on for the meeting. My thanks in advance for making this a priority in your schedule and hope to see many of you Sunday.
If you have any questions about the Parish Meeting or anything in the life of St. Julian's, please don't hesitate to reach out. I hope this reaches you and yours as safe and well as possible.
Peace and Warm Friendship,
