St. Julian's Fall Christian Education Programs begin Sunday, Sept 8 between Services:
We sincerely hope everyone who calls St. Julian's home will join us a week from this Sunday (Sept 8) as we kick off our fall Christian Ed programs for all ages between services at 10:10 AM. Your presence and participation will go a long way to an enthusiastic launch of our program year.
Below is a brief outline of what we are providing on Sunday mornings this fall, including classroom assignments, topics and curriculums. Your support and regular participation bolsters the conversation, fun, and learning that happens within each gathering. To this end, we hope you will make regular participation in Christian Education, before or after worship, a part of you and your family's regular Sunday commitment throughout the school year.
Adults: "Formed by Love: Life with Christ in a Maddening World", a semester long class led by our Theologian in Residence, Dr. Tony Baker, ranging from "large" theological/ethical topics to "small" matters like daily prayer, shared meals, and play. The class will be based on the book, of the same title, by our fellow parishioner and seminary professor, Dr. Scott Bader-Saye, who will be joining us at some point along the way. Participants are encouraged (but certainly not necessary to participate on Sunday mornings) to read the book as we move through the semester (for a copy, click here). Tony will also be inviting those who do read along to join him in leading the conversation and teaching on Sundays. If interested in being a part of those who read the book and help lead teaching, email Tony directly. Class Meets each Sunday in the worship space.
3 year-olds-Kinder: "Godly Play", a child focused experience that includes storytelling, wondering, and self-guided exploration with specially created manipulatives and other activities. Class meets each week in the Gold Room.
1st-3rd Grades: "The Jesus Story Book Bible", a child centered exploration of bibles stories of the Old and New Testaments using storytelling, games, songs and activities. Class meeets each week in the Red Room.
4th-6th Grades: "The Grapple", a curriculum that offers tween lessons based on real questions that 10 to 12-year-olds ask. These lessons help preteens learn how to search the Bible for answers and build on a faith foundation. Class meets in the Green Room.
7th-12th Grades: "Companions for the Journey", a bible study with discussion and activities generated from topics discerned directly by our teens from real life challenges and opportunities. Led by our Vicar, Miles. Class meets each week in the Blue Room.
Children's Chapel (3-years-olds-3rd grade): A child-centered time of worship with prayers, songs, and activities. Meets during the first part of our regular Sunday services at 9 and 11 AM. Children return each week in time to receive communion with their families.
Childcare/Nursery for children up to three is available in our nursery each Sunday morning during worship and Christian Education.
