4th Sundays at Community First Village, 4:15-7:15 PM:
Our ministry with Community First Village officially begins June 24 and will continue the 4th Sunday of each month moving forward. This unique organization in East Austin, a ministry of Mobile Loaves and Fishes, is a great opportunity to serve and build long-term relationships with community residents (formerly homeless). For more information on Community First Village (including an address and directions), click here. St. Julian's member, Keirsten Bumgardner, will be coordinating this new ministry for us and is your go-to person for information and questions pertaining to our ministry at Community First Village.
Volunteering includes greeting at worship, setup/take down of chairs and tables, and providing/serving a meal. The time commitment on location is 3 hours (4:15-7:15 PM) on the 4th Sunday of each month. We are forming four teams of 8-10 adults and older teens and will appoint a team leader to communicate with Keirsten as needed. The teams will rotate throughout the year, meaning each team will serve no more than 3 times a year.
Each date of service has an appointed meal, and the ingredients for meal prep will be sent to the address of team leader's choice prior to the date of service. Meals should be prepared in advance and brought to Community First (though there is a kitchen available for some onsite prep). June 24th is taken care of (Team 1), July-September teams (Teams 2, 3, and 4) are forming now and we hope you and yours will considering joining one of these teams. All ages are welcome to participate. Though we are looking, again, for 8-10 adults/older teens to make up the core of each team.
