Updates for St. Julian's COVID Protocols:
March 10, 2022
Dear St. Julian's Family:
As our St. Julian's Forward (COVID) Task Force continues to meet weekly to review our protocols and COVID transmission and hospitalization rates in our community, we want to update you on our current Stage 2 protocols.
1. Beginning Sunday, March 13, masks are optional, though welcome and appreciated, at all St. Julian's worship services (9 and 11:15 AM) and all other St. Julian's gatherings.
2. Food and drink is welcome in the church and at church events. We will be resuming coffee and donut service in the coming weeks.
3. Sign-ins for consent and contact tracing will no longer be required when entering the church.
4. Hand sanitizers will remain available but not required for entry to the church.
5. We continue to invite you to use the 2 finger "Peace Sign" if you prefer to avoid touch during the Passing of the Peace or at other times.
6. Communion will continue to be served in both kinds, and, upon the direction of the Bishop, we will allow the wine to be received by intinction or by sipping from the common cup.
7. Social distancing will no longer be required. However, as an expression of hospitality, we suggest that you politely ask when sitting directly next to someone not in your family/bubble.
8. If you feel off or unwell, we continue to encourage you to worship with us online out of an abundance of caution.
Though we are no longer requiring masks at St. Julian's gatherings, for some it will continue to be important for many, many reasons to continue to wear a mask at church, and we welcome and appreciate that choice. Thus, my sincere hope is that we can create a culture at St. Julian's that, again, welcomes and appreciates mask use as an expression of love of neighbor. And, we hope all will continue to use masks for reasons such as: just returning from travel, possible exposure to COVID, just completing a quarantine, feeling out of sorts, protecting vulnerable people in your home, etc....
Lastly, as we remain in a pandemic, the St. Julian's Forward (COVID) Task Force will continue regular meetings and will update protocols, including, mask use at 9 AM and any or all protocols that have been in place at other stages, based on the metrics we are following and as we believe will best keep our family of faith healthy and moving forward together. We will continue to communicate changes as quickly and clearly as possible.
St. Julian's has made it to date with little COVID exposure and spread at St. Julian's through our shared commitment to honoring our protocols. I am grateful for your part in this important work, and I look forward to continuing to keep St. Julian's a safe place to be together as we continue to find our way forward.
If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me at any time. I hope this reaches you and yours safe and well.
Peace and Warm Friendship,
Vicar, St. Julian of Norwich Episcopal Church
