A New Sunday Morning Schedule and Christian Ed for All Ages Begins September 13:
On Sunday, Sept 13 (a week from this Sunday), we begin both our new Sunday morning schedule and our Fall Christian Ed programs for all ages (Sunday School). As I often say, we see worship AND Christian Ed as two sides of the same coin, which held together lead us, as our Vision Statement reads, to "Grow in Relationship, Love all Well, and Seek Intimacy with Christ". We hope you and yours will consider making both a priority in your Sunday mornings plans.
As a reminder beginning the Sept 13, the Sunday morning schedule will be as follows:
9:00 AM: Holy Communion with Children's Chapel (no time change)
10:10-10:30 AM: Coffee, donuts and fellowship
10:30-11:15 AM: Christian Ed for all ages
11:30 AM: Holy Communion with Children's Chapel
Below is a list of the Sunday morning Christian Ed programs for all ages also beginning Sept 13:
Adult Christian Ed, "Meals in the Bible": This class will explore important meals that take place in scripture and what they teach us about God's vision of hospitality, abundance, and service that help shape the community of faith we share, which is nothing less than an expression God's kingdom present on earth. These meals include the Last Supper, the Wedding Feast at Cana of Galilee, and the Feeding of the 5000 among others. This class will be led Cori Coburn and the Adult Spiritual Formation Committee until our Theologian in Residence, Dr. Tony Baker, returns from parental leave in mid October. Class meets in the Gathering Room.
PreK 4-5th Grade, "The Jesus Storybook Bible": A curriculum which explores stories from the Old and New Testaments, using storytelling, video, song and directed activities/crafts.
Our children will meet in two sections: PreK 4-2nd Grade will meet in the yellow room and 3rd-5th Grade will meet in the Blue Room. Each section will have their own teachers and their own age appropriate focus on different parts of the curriculum.
6th-12th Grade, "Companions for the Journey": A bible study with discussion and activities generated from topics discerned directly by our teens from real life challenges and opportunities. Led by our Rector, Miles, with support from our Associate Rector and Youth Minister, Demery. Class meets in the Youth Room.
Children's Chapel (3 ½-years-old through 3rd grade): A child-centered time of worship with teaching, prayers, songs, and activities. Meets during the first part of our regular Sunday services at 9 and 11:30 AM. Children will be dismissed from worship at the appropriate time to go to chapel and will return to receive communion with their families.
Childcare/Nursery (Infants through 3-years-old): Our nursery is available each Sunday morning during worship and Christian Education. The nursery is located near the front entrance to the church.
Again, we hope all will mark your calendars and join us as we make a joyful beginning to our fall semester. Each voice is very welcome and has something important to share through which God will shape us more and more into the people and place God is calling us to be.
