"The Season of Giving Thanks", A Weekly Reflection on Gratitude and Giving by our Stewardship Ministry:
A Reflection on Gratitude and Giving by Melissa Lacy:
In my work as a preschool teacher, the topic of sharing comes up frequently. 3 and 4-year-olds are not natural fans of the idea. It’s hard to give up that shiny yellow dump truck or give someone else a turn on the slide. As teachers, we have an opportunity to model sharing and help children see that it actually enriches their interactions with their peers. The circle gets wider, the play more imaginative. The seed of sharing is planted with the hope that it will grow as the children mature.
As members of a faith community, we are called on to share the things that are precious to us. The commitment of our time, talent and financial resources allows us to widen our circle and imagine new and creative ways to serve our St. Julian’s family as well as the wider community. In this Season of Giving Thanks, may we prayerfully consider what we have to share.
